We specialize in weddings and events while serving our community through a unique downtown retail space and local delivery of gifts and floral arrangements. We are seeking a hands-on leader with retail management experience and a passion for floral design, creative work, and beautiful spaces. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on the shop floor—working directly with customers, supporting team members, and creating stunning floral arrangements while driving sales and operational excellence. As General Manager, you will be the daily leadership presence on our shop floor. You’ll work side-by-side with your team in all aspects of the business—from creating arrangements and assisting customers to processing orders and maintaining a well-organized workspace. This is a working manager position, with active engagement in floral design, customer consultations, sales, and real-time coaching for staff. Key Duties and Deliverables Customer Service & Store Operations Lead daily opening/closing procedures and ensure the shop is prepared and secure. Drive daily sales and profitability through customer engagement and strong design execution. Set and communicate realistic daily and weekly goals with the team. Manage walk-ins, phone orders, special requests, and custom consultations professionally and accurately. Ensure proper handling of payments, refunds, discounts, and sales adjustments in alignment with company policies and financial controls. Handle customer concerns with grace and solution-focused problem-solving. Ensure quality and consistency in all floral designs and customer interactions. Maintain high standards for design quality, merchandising, and shop presentation. Create and maintain an inspiring, organized, and brand-aligned shop environment. Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock of flowers, supplies, and materials. Maintain shop cleanliness, organization, and safety standards. Employee Development & Training Oversee weekly and daily staffing needs, ensuring team members arrive prepared and perform effectively. Train staff in design techniques, customer service excellence, and daily procedures through hands-on demonstration and coaching. Support growth and development for floral designers and sales staff. Monitor real-time performance metrics and adjust staffing or workflows as needed. Provide ongoing feedback and corrective coaching, including early-stage disciplinary steps when required. Foster a positive, creative, and accountable work environment. Collaborate with ownership on scheduling, seasonal planning, events, and business initiatives. Ensure proper coverage, adjusting proactively for call-offs and busy periods. Provide regular updates to ownership on staff performance and shop needs. Process Improvement, Inventory & Vendor Management Oversee vendor relationships, inventory ordering, and supply levels to ensure consistent product quality and availability. Review incoming inventory, track credits, and communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies or quality concerns. Monitor expenses and inventory usage to support profitability and reduce waste. Develop tools, guidelines, and training resources to ensure staff maintains clear standards for quality and product acceptance. Create and maintain SOPs to drive operational consistency, efficiency, and accountability across the team. Identify opportunities to enhance workflow, streamline processes, and optimize cost control measures. Forecast and maintain appropriate stock levels to meet customer demand while minimizing overages. Partner with ownership on marketing initiatives, performance targets, and strategic business planning. Schedule Five days per week during business hours: Monday–Friday, 9:30 am–5:30 pm, and Saturday 10:00 am–2:00 pm.(Final schedule to be set upon hire.) Regular weekend availability is expected. Occasional overtime during peak seasons and special events.
