Sylvania Community Services is seeking a full-time Facilities Assistant. The Facilities Assistant supports the Facilities Director in maintaining, cleaning, repairing, and managing Sylvania Community Services’ facilities. This full-time position includes 25 hours per week dedicated to cleaning the Marshall Childcare Center, with the remaining time spent assisting with organization-wide maintenance and learning all aspects of the Facilities Director’s role to serve as a trained backup. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS •Perform routine cleaning and sanitization at the Marshall Childcare Center, including classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas (approximately 25 hours per week). •Assist the Facilities Director with maintenance, repairs, and inspections at all SCS facilities. •Learn and support the full range of duties performed by the Facilities Director, including HVAC, plumbing, minor electrical, carpentry, and equipment maintenance. •Monitor, order, and replenish cleaning and maintenance supplies as needed. •Assist with event setup, room arrangements, and facility logistics. •Report facility and safety concerns promptly to the Facilities Director. •Ensure compliance with health, safety, and building codes. •Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS •High school diploma or equivalent. •Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and working indoors and outdoors. •Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, techniques, and products. •Willingness to learn new skills in facility maintenance. •Ability to work independently and follow directions. •Must pass a background check and meet all childcare center clearance requirements. •Experience in custodial, janitorial, maintenance, or facility support roles. •Basic maintenance skills (e.g., plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry). •Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safe and clean environments. •Interest in long-term employment and professional growth within the organization.
