Job Title: Youth Program Coordinator
Organization: Sylvania Area Family Services (SAFS)
Reports to: Executive Director

Overview
The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing programs and events that support SAFS youth and families. This role includes coordinating back-to-school events and collaborating with local schools to plan after-school and summer camp activities. A significant part of the role involves managing the Youth Diversion Program in partnership with the Sylvania Police Department and Lucas County Juvenile Courts, aimed at reducing youth involvement in the juvenile justice system. The coordinator will work directly with youth and families to deliver the diversion program. The ideal candidate is a team player who will collaborate closely with the Social Services Coordinator in alignment with SAFS's overall mission.
Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement youth programming and events for SAFS youth and families, including back-to-school events.
  • Conduct outreach to recruit youth for SAFS programs.
  • Build positive relationships with key partners, funders, community members, and participants.
  • Serve as the lead contact for youth, families, and community partners.
  • Coordinate and oversee the Youth Diversion Program.
  • Maintain records and reports related to program activities and outcomes.
  • Assist with fundraising efforts to support and expand youth programs.
Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of experience working with youth and families.
  • Background in social work, education, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and event planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with community partners, including law enforcement and schools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and social media.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the changing demands of a small organization.
  • Additional training or certification in youth development, counseling, or related areas is a plus.
Working Conditions
  • Part-time position with the potential to become full-time based on fundraising and program development capabilities.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and some weekends, as required by program activities.
  • Ability to travel locally to various event locations and meetings.
