Join our enthusiastic and service-focused team at Outdoor Sylvania Community Parks as a Head Lifeguard. Under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager, this seasonal position supports Outdoor Sylvania by overseeing Lake Olander Swim & Beach Facility lifeguard staff. Individual is responsible for ensuring that lifeguard staff fulfills and performs their duties. Responsive to patron safety and complaint issues. Maintains a safe, clean, and attractive swim & beach facility. WORK HOURS: A flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends, & holidays. Assists in interviewing, hiring, and scheduling of lifeguard staff. Delegates responsibilities to lifeguard staff. Fills out a daily task sheet and/or assigns guards to tasks on the task list. Responsible for lifeguard staff. Ensures the safety of lifeguard staff and Lake Olander swim & beach facility patrons. Assists lifeguard staff in understanding and performing their duties and responsibilities. Supervises and assists with safety inspections, care, and cleaning of the swim & beach facility and equipment. Reports unsafe conditions to necessary personnel. Handles complaints and disruptions from swim & beach patrons. If complaints escalate, contact the Facilities Manager, other Supervisors, or the Director in that order. If these individuals are unavailable, contact 911, which will connect us with the City of Sylvania Police Department. Possesses an in-depth knowledge of all swim & beach facility regulations, policies, procedures, and rules. Assist with, and participate in, training and testing to improve the performance of lifeguard staff. Maintain professional appearance and enforce the same standard for lifeguard staff. Count the cash drawer with the daily cashier to make sure the amounts are correct. Monitor the cash drawer and notify a manager or supervisor of any change needed. Keeps the swim test record up to date. Assigns lifeguards to the swim test. Can also perform a swim test. Communicates in a timely and professional manner using Slack, e-mail, texts, and phone calls.
